It is right that the field of artificial intelligence quite centered on pure research activities, there are so many artificial intelligence applications already. It is right that study of artificial intelligence has not accomplished its final objectives so far, but whatever the progress achieved up-to-date has been contributing to enhance the lives of humankind. Let’s have a look at a few artificial intelligence applications.

Computer games have become one of the areas where there is a lot of artificial intelligence application. Do you remember the games of good old days where you knew where exactly the monster appears with a gun? This event does not change regardless of how many times you play the game. Eventually, playing such games became a boring task as everything could be predicted. With artificial intelligence application to the field of computer games, there came the resolution. After that, the games changed their strategies and tricks time to time, so the playes always had an exciting experience with the game play. Now playing a game which has artificial intelligence is stimulating than ever.

Speech recogntion is one of the core fields for artificial intelligence application. Mid 1990 was the golden era for speech recognition program research. More parties were engaged in speech recognition including some of the leading software companies. Although we use the keyboard and the mouse for interacting with the home and office computers, scientists are hoping to substitute them with accurate speech recognition programs.

Although natural language processing is moderately similar to speech recognition, there is a fundamental difference in the core. When it comes to speech recognition, it interprets the words to text or action some predefined command based on what is being said. But in natural language processing, the computer needs to ‘understand’ and link the words to what the system ‘knows’ and respond accordingly. Speech recognition is one area where the scientists are hopeful for rapid growths.

Another direction of AI is that the computer and three dimentional vision. There are so many advanced uses of computer and three dimentional vision when it comes to artificial intelligence application. Do you remember ‘Pathfinder’ vehicle which extracted information of surface of Mars? This vehicle was partially controlled from the Earth, through vehicles cameras. If the vehicle had computer and three dimensional vision, then the vehicle would have travelled by its own by understanding what it sees in a three dimensional paradigm.

Expert systems have been one of the earliest artificial intelligence applications. These systems usually contains a certain degree of knowledge in a specific domain and able to share its judgment with the humans.
