Dry Skin
The cause behind dry skin is a low sebum or skin oil secretion. Sensitivity and a dull look often accompany dryness, besides the tendency to develop wrinkles in the most tight skin areas such as the eyes and the mouth. Dry skin lacks the adequate ability to retain moisture, it gives one the feeling of too tight on the bones, and it is most of the time described as dehydrated. The most important factors that accelerate skin dryness and make the skin flake and chap are atmospheric conditions.
There are several explanations or causes for skin dryness: the first and most important is genetic predisposition. This means that genes decide whether a person has dry skin or normal skin. Then, too much sun exposure, dehydration, weather conditions like wind and cold, skin disease such as psoriasis and eczema, all represent other elements behind the inconvenience. Various ailments like diabetes or thyroid dysfunctions as well as medications could impair the health of the skin and make it lose moisture and get dry.
A diet poor in vitamins and essential nutrients could also cause dry skin. The adjustment of the diet, the proper hydration and the intense moisturizing of the skin represent the only solutions possible in such cases. Moisturizers and dry skin are best friends. It all begins with face cleaning: instead of using hot tap water, try to spray some fresh mineral water on the tissues and only then use the moisturizer as a treatment. The body lotion and the face cream that you apply, need to be oily enough to make the skin soft and moist.
Because of improper information or out of ignorance, people make bad choices when it comes to buying skincare items. For example, the cleaning agents should have a neutral pH, similar to that of the skin. Alkaline soaps make dry skin worse by eliminating all the natural oils and increasing the sensitivity of the tissues. Stay away from chemicals and any detergent-based product, because skin dryness will only get worse and even make it possible for dermatological ailments to start pestering you.
Dry skin should be protected against sun exposure; if you still feel like going sunbathing, don’t neglect to use a sunscreen with a high ultraviolet protection factor. Because of skin dryness, the sun will accelerate the aging process, making you look older and more wrinkled. By doing your best to keep your skin fresh and moist, you protect youth as a matter of fact. Other than moisturizing, you can rely on all sorts of lotions, cleansers and home made beauty masks to render your skin the right elasticity.
