Pay Per Click Advertising
With the constant increase of the Internet usage, service providers and manufacturers strive really hard to advertise for their businesses on the Internet. And so far there is no match for that in terms of efficiency. Pay per click advertising represents one of the many forms of promoting a product or service on the world wide web. The basis for the online advertising system is the posting of ads on networks, blogs and search result pages to make a business known.
The concept of pay per click advertising indicates that businesses that advertise on site pay the host web site or blog for every click or access to the ad. If the ad doesn’t get clicks, there is no payment either. With content web sites, each click has a fix charge regardless of how many times it is made.
In the case of search engines, things with pay per click advertising get a little more complicated than with web sites because the system functions differently and advertisers propose a certain payment on keywords and phrases that target relevant visitors; they actually bid for these keywords, and he who bids highest will own the keyword. On the other hand, web sites rely on the list of phrases and keywords given by the advertiser in order to show an ad and the fixed charge makes it all easier.
If a certain keyword or phrase is introduced by the person viewing the site, the web page recognizes it and automatically shows the pay per click advertising links as there would be higher chances of gaining click-worth money. Also knowns as sponsored links, such adverts can be found almost anywhere on the world wide web.
Altogether there are many pay per click advertising providers and you can imagine the level of competition that there is between them. The fiercest battle goes on between Yahoo! Search Marketing, Google Adwords and Microsoft adCenter. The amount of money that the advertisers bid for a keyword or a phrase that would trigger the ad may vary depending on each search engine and on how big the competition is for that particular keyword.
There is also a bit of trouble with pay per click advertising as there is with anything involving finance and security over the Internet. Dishonest practices for instance involve the use of abusive clicks either to generate money or to ruin competition; yet, there are security systems that undergo constant upgrading and improvement limiting and preventing such abuses as much as possible.
