Telecommuters

Telecommuting opportunities are on the rise every day. What telecommuters do is work in the comfort of their home, or any other place they are comfortable with, and have the ability to communicate with the main office or boss using any of the new and modern methods they are comfortable with. This gives telecommuters a great advantage. They have the luxury of working according to the hours they want, and can do so in the comforts of their own home. What would you not do for a life like this?
But all is not rosy for telecommuters. Since there is no set working time for telecommuters, they could end up being less efficient than those working normal working hours. Or a lack of structure could also mean that telecommuters work too much, which thenleads to many health issues. Secondly, telecommuters may suffer from feelings of isolation and may miss the companionship and support of coworkers. The feeling of belonging to the company will also be very low, which means they will probably not be working to the best of their abilities. Always open to distractions could be another reason they do not work to their best capability. And of course, there is no chance of going any higher up the corporate ladder.

That being said, telecommuting also has its advantages. First, like mentioned before, telecommuters have a very flexible time schedule which means that they can work within the comforts of their home and choose your their hours. This means there is also time for the family and your other interests. Second, working at home also means that telecommuters do not bear any transportation costs which again mean that they get more value for the work they do. Third, since telecommuting does not require any travel between the household and the workplace, it reduces noise and air pollution. And the flexibility of being able to hold more than one job means there is the chance of earning more.

Though telecommuting sounds like a piece of cake, telecommuters are expected to possess immense responsibilities. The crucial one would be loyalty and honesty towards their employers. They should be able to take on as much work as possible to keep their end of the bargain. Telecommuters cannot keep their jobs if they cannot be trusted by their employers. Once this trust is damaged nothing can be said or done to rebuild it. Because of this the relationship between the telecommuter and employer comes with great responsibilities.
