If you know somebody that is getting married soon, and you’re reading this article, then it’s a fair assumption that you are at least partially responsible for the planning of a bachelorette party. There is a lot of work to be done, but it will all be worth it when you see everybody, especially the bride, having a good time.
The first thing you need to decide is whether or not the bride is going to know about the party. This way you will know if you can go directly to her with questions or if you will have to be more sneaky about it. Neither method is necessarily better, but the sooner you know which one it will be, the sooner you can start making plans.
As you plan the bachelorette party, it is vital that you do it with the bride in mind. What does she like to do? What things doesn’t she like to do? Does she drink alcohol? Is she quiet and shy? Does she like to go out, or does she prefer more quite get togethers? Where does she like to hang out? Who are her friends? Who will she want at her party?
And those questions are only the starting point. Now, some people just like to say “hey, we’re having a bachelorette party on Saturday, let’s do something!”…and that’s the full extent of their planning. While that may work for some people, it’s not a good choice for most.
If you plan on having a group of girls drinking, then you should hire a bus or limousine so nobody will try to get behind the wheel of a car. In this case, not planning could lead t serious trouble, and the bachelorette party is supposed to be fun.
It used to be that women would have a bridal shower. This is a small group of friends and relatives who give both gifts and advice. Bridal showers still have their place, and may be a better option for people who aren’t thrilled about bachelorette parties. However, there is no rule against having a shower on one day and a party on another.
One big question that comes up is whether or not to get a stripper. This really depends on the bride to be. If she wouldn’t mind, then go for it. Be mindful of who you invite though, as you don’t want anybody to feel offended. Not everybody likes strippers, and that’s okay (again, these people could always be invited to the bridal shower instead).
Whatever you end up doing for the bachelorette party, a little planning can go a long way. If it’s too much for you to handle, then enlist the help of a trusted friend to make things less stressful. In fact, the difference between poor planning and good planning is the difference between a bad party and a party that everybody will remember fondly for many years to come.
