Zoos

A zoo is a place where animals live and are cared for. Every attempt is made to help ensure they are well taken care of. As much of their natural habitat that can be offered is made available to them. Their diet is also kept as similar as it can be in order for them to thrive in such a setting. People love to go to the zoo and see all of the animals that are in place there.

Many zoos serve as conservation locations for animals that are having a hard time in the wild. This can be due to poaching, their natural environment being destroyed, and even due to them not reproducing as they should to keep their numbers at a good rate to ensure survival. There is a great deal of effort in place at zoos to help these animals to reproduce. Some of the offspring are sent to other zoos while in some cases they are released into the wild.

Most zoos are non profit organizations but they are in place to help these animals to survive. They also offer plenty of education to people so that they will realize the importance of these animals. It is extremely expensive to operate any size of zoo and that is there is a price you are charged before you can go inside. They also rely upon grants and private donations.

Safety is a major issue that has to be addressed at all zoos. The animals must be safe at all times in order to ensure their survival. Those that care for them also need to be kept safe. There are various policies in place when they are interacting with the animals and feeding them to help reduce the risk of any type of attacks. Individuals that are visiting at a zoo also want to know they are safe as they are exploring.

Some individuals don’t believe in the concept of zoos though. They don’t think animals should be confined in such a way. There are certain animals that really make people uncomfortable such as gorillas. They are too similar in their manners and expressions to people. They also appear to be very sad in their environment. Yet without zoos many of these animals would likely be extinct.
